Jean Andrey passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on January 9, 1929, Jean lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and a deep devotion to her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Annie Slovinsky; her beloved husband of 59 years, Gerald Andrey; and her siblings, Kay Pochynok, Lillian Slovinsky, Helen Schiewe, Robert Slovinsky, and Walter Slovinsky. She leaves behind her loving sons, David Andrey (Margaret) and Jim Andrey (Susan); her sisters, Joan Wolski (Julian) and Geraldine Swiskoski; her cherished grandchildren, Angela Burgess (Ray), Aubrey Arellano (Nico), and Shawn Andrey (Amanda); her treasured great-grandchildren, Evangalene and Onyx; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jean found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She loved fishing at the lake, dancing with Gerald, and spending time outdoors picking berries and mushrooms. She was an accomplished bowler, a talented crocheter, and took great pride in her cooking - especially her homemade borscht, which brought family and friends together around her table.
She will be fondly remembered for her warm hospitality, her lively spirit, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and loved. Her sense of humour and the special traditions she created, especially with family, will be cherished for generations.
Jean will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Many thanks to the doctors and staff of Fairview Personal Care Home for taking such great care of mom, with a special mention to “banana girl” for the many laughs you shared with mom!
